Sol y Café was founded in 2005. Its coffee trees are spread across more than 6,000 acres in a mountainous region of northeastern Peru, not far from the city of Jaén.
All farm hands at Sol y Café can be found pruning coffee trees at harvet time to increase the yield - all whilst battling Northern Peru’s varied climate. Their objective is to maintain the high quality organic specialty coffee which has been a staple of the region for over a decade.
Sol & Café acquired its organic certification in 2008 and its Fair Trade designation in 2011, enabling it to sell into North America & Europe more easily.
Sticking to clear & strictly applied membership criteria, Members are expected to actively participate in the development of their cooperative & to contribute to its growth by committing at least 51% of their estimated harvest to the group.
Our Sol y Café is harvested & put through a wet (mill) process, which gives it the the aroma of Dark Chocolate, Nougat & Toffee, with a light acidic sparkle
