A Guide to using a V60

The V60 is great for a quick & easy cup of coffee.  It’s become a popular way to drink clean, aromatic & floral coffees. Great for a quick morning coffee break or a single serve in the afternoon.

The Grind

A medium-fine grind.  Our omni-grind will work well in a pourover.

Ratio/Measurements

For a single serve V60, you’ll need…

15g of ground coffee – about 1½ tbsp

250ml water in a large size coffee cup

Brewing Time

It should take about 2½ mins. If it’s quicker, the coffee is too coarse & you’ll lose the flavour. Too fine, and it’ll take much longer &your coffee will be bitter.

Step-by-Step

Step I

Put your filter paper into the V60. Place it over your large cup, then rinse the filter thoroughly with warm water. This ‘cleans’ the filter, and also helps warm the V60 and cup.

Step II

Empty the warm water from your cup. Measure out your coffee (approx. 15g) & add it to the filter. Ensure that you have a nice & even bed on which to pour the water.

Step III

Using the pouring kettle add about a third of the water and wait 30 seconds for the coffee to ‘bloom’. Stir with a spoon. Pour in another third ideally in outward spirals, finishing around the edges in order to wash any grinds back down.

Step IV

Add the last third of water and finish the pour in a circular motion. Then give your V60 a gentle tap & a final levelling-out. Leave to completely drain, then enjoy your perfectly brewed coffee.
